As if on a mission, she walked into the oversized bookstore and made her way through the crowd to the magazine racks. She stood near the end of the row, staring at the various entertainment magazines. She bit her lower lip and began to twirl a loose curl around her finger. As she turned the corner, she saw him.
He sat on a bench, against the window, near the magazine rack. He flipped through a magazine, Premiere, maybe, but it was clear he didnt care too much about it. His gaze kept creeping up and then back down. He caught her eye as she turned the corner. At least he hoped he did. He attempted to smile but she turned around too quickly.
His smile was timid and sweet and gave her a rush. She quickly turned back, but he was reading again. She stood staring at the rows of cooking magazines, still twirling her hair, but glancing in his direction more than the magazines.
He caught her eye again and smiled.
She smiled back. Her smile was warm and inviting.
He tried not to let her smile influence his, which only caused him to look back down at his magazine, breaking their stare.
She ran over to him, hopped on the bench beside him and threw her arms around him. "Wasnt that fun?!"
He laughed and nodded. "Yeah, I guess it was."
"I told you it would be. Nothing like a little flirting."
"You're much better at it than I am."
"That's not true, you did a great job. Good smile. Great eye contact."
"Good twirl of the hair."
"Yeah? That was all for you." She kissed him quickly on the cheek and stood up. "I gotta get going, work in ten. I'll see you later?"
"Definitely."
